Holy cow! Contiki says namaste to India

It's been over four decades since the youth tour operator has run tours in this part of the world, but this year Contiki will head back to the subcontinent to start operating its new "Eternal India" tour.

It’s been over four decades since the youth tour operator has run tours in this part of the world, but this year Contiki will head back to the subcontinent to start operating its new “Eternal India” tour.

The 12-day Eternal India itinerary will take travellers to seven destinations across the country, including UNESCO World Heritage sites, grand cities and chilled beaches, immersing guests in the magic and mystery of India.

And you never now, you may just be able to “find yourself” on the epic 12-day trip.

Check out this cool video that should get you feeling excited about heading to exotic India with Contiki:

The Eternal India itinerary travels to Delhi, Agra, Ranthambore, Jaipur, Udaipur and Mumbai before ending at the beach paradise of Goa. And yes, it actually does travel to India – it won’t be using its cool VR technology to simulate India, rather, guests will be able to experience India in all its glory: its smells, its sights, its sounds and its sacred wonder.

The In-Depth Explorer style of itinerary is packed with experiences such as the Taj Mahal and a special stay in Ranthambore National Park while allowing plenty of time to explore and discover. Some of the ME Time optional activities include a cooking demonstration and local family supper in Jaipur, a Bollywood tour and dawn tour of Mumbai and a yoga class on the beach.

“We’ve seen a real demand for travel experiences that take guests out of their comfort-zone – they want to feel a sense of adventure and see, taste, smell and experience things that remind them that they’re far from home.”

Katrina Barry, Managing Director, Contiki.

The trip also includes all the staples that travellers know and love about Contiki – an English speaking Trip Manager complemented by local guides, the group atmosphere created by 18 to 35 year old adventurers, travel by private air-conditioned coach and comfortable hotels.

“Our new India trip will ignite guests’ senses and imaginations as they traverse India’s colourful and chaotic cities, lush national parks and hippy beach culture, but also provide the group camaraderie and truly local experiences our guests love about Contiki.”

Katrina Barry, Managing Director, Contiki.

With over fifty years’ experience curating itineraries, Contiki has found the sweet spot combining meaningful and authentic experiences with the logistics that improve the overall journey.

Eternal India has a small group size with a maximum of 30 guests, comfortable accommodation and many meals. Guests travel by private air-conditioned coach though won’t waste precious days on long trips – two internal flights maximises the time spent trying street food, getting a Mehndi masterpiece, or taking yet another photo of a cow.

The Eternal India trip will run from October (commencing in 2016) through April. Included in Contiki’s 16/17 Asia program and on-sale from July 12, 2016. Prices start from $2,739.
