GRABBING YOUR OPPORTUNITIES WITH TIME

In 2004, Mark Zuckerberg’s roommate, Joe Green, turned down an offer from Zuckerberg to help with a little start-up idea he was working on.

Whilst at Harvard together, they collaborated on a hot-or-not style website called ‘Facemash’, which got the pair in a bit of trouble with the university.

The story goes that when Zuckerberg asked Green to help him with Facebook, Green’s dad discouraged him from getting into business again with Zuckerberg.

Had Joe joined the company from the get-go, he would have found himself with roughly a 5 percent stake in Facebook which would be worth, well, lots today.

Parents can be great mentors. But not always in business.

Find your perfect mentor at the Travel Industry Mentor Experience – TIME, and take charge of your future by investing in yourself.

With a perfectly-matched mentor in your corner, you’ll be better equipped to see your opportunities and take them.

The Travel Industry Mentor Experience (TIME) is a not-for-profit enterprise established in 2009 to nurture business skills and acumen, provide professional guidance and support to aspiring travel and tourism industry professionals in a mentoring environment.

TIME

TIME’s 6-month mentoring programs are focused on Mentor-Mentee relationships that are Mentee-driven. Mentors are drawn from the senior ranks of the industry and generously volunteer their time and energy to the program.

They are matched with successful program applicants on the basis of non-conflicting business skills and experience that enables them to offer relevant advice and perspective. Mentors hold their Mentees accountable, offer challenging ideas designed to inspire and build self-confidence through praise, encouragement and constructive feedback.

It is challenging but immeasurably rewarding.

With hindsight, it’s easy to say that Joe should have hitched his cart to the Zuckerberg wagon and grasped the opportunity.

Are you ready to grab yours?
