Or that 53 percent admit to having a ‘general idea’ about what’s covered by ‘skimming’ their policy?’

The figures are a little troubling considering the state of the world today, which is why SureSave is hoping to make travel insurance a little clearer for travellers by transforming its Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).

Through the use of strong visuals (we all love a good picture), the insurance provider is hoping to “make it easier for travellers” to not only choose the right option, but know what they’re covered for if something happens while on the road.

Described as the first-of-its-kind for travel insurance, the PDS features a break down of “complicated” policies and iconography and colour to identify various ‘events’ that can occur.

There’s a redefined medical cover that allows customers with existing medical conditions to apply and receive cover for specified medical conditions. Plus, the digital version comes with hyperlink navigation so they can easily jump to their preferred section.

SureSave’s National Sales Director, Talbot Henry, said the new PDS comes after research into travellers’ behaviours regarding travel and insurance.

“Our most recent findings reveal, overwhelmingly, that a significant section of the population has only a ‘general idea’ about what their travel insurance covers them for.”

“As a result, we are making our PDS clearer than ever before.

“We invite all travel agents to engage with SureSave and the new product and ‘See for yourself’ how different it is.

“Our research shows that travellers trust the advice of agents more than ever before, so the role of the agent is crucial when selecting the right policy.”
