The Australian spirit took over three Aussie travel brands yesterday – Qantas, Virgin and P&O Cruises.

P&O Cruises Australia brought its entire three-ship fleet to Sydney yesterday, where the vessels met in the Harbour for the first time ever.

The ships arrived at the crack of dawn on the historic Australia Day and were welcomed by thousands of onlookers.

With Pacific Jewel berthed at Athol Bay, Pacific Pearl anchored at Point Piper and Pacific Dawn located off Kurraba Point, the trio of ships offered their 6,000 guests a front row seat to Sydney’s Australia Day festivities.

To mark the occasion, Pacific Pearl and Pacific Jewel sported patriotic decals with the nation’s catch cry, “Aussie, Aussie, Aussie”, while Pacific Dawn waved giant Australian flags.

Meanwhile, travellers flying with Qantas yesterday were greeted with a little [but incredible] surprise – a stack of assorted Tim Tam biscuits.

The treats were presented to travellers at the luggage carousel alongside their bags.

As well as acknowledging the national day, the stunt was also designed to promote the availability of Tim Tams aboard select Qantas international flights, News.com.au reported.

“Tim Tams are Australia’s favourite chocolate biscuits and when travelling, they’re like a little taste of home. We know our consumers will enjoy them on Qantas flights across the globe!”

Catherine Hart, Arnott’s Tim Tams brand manager

Qantas may have had the Tim Tams, but earlier in the day Virgin Australia had treated its guests with the delicious lamington.

Virgin Australia also brought out Aussie favourite meat pies at select lounge between three- to- five yesterday.
