Who are the best travel marketers in the business right now? All was revealed at this week’s inaugural Mumbrella Travel Marketing Awards in Sydney.

Held at the Four Seasons as part of the one-day Mumbrella Travel Marketing Summit, the awards were joyfully handed out by TV and radio presenter Jules Lund and featured a host of travel brands vying off for the big gongs.

And it was Air New Zealand who scored big time, taking home four of the nine awards for ‘Travel marketing team of the year’, ‘Ad campaign of the year’, ‘Best Media Strategy’ and ‘Social media idea of the year.’

And who would disagree? (Apart from the other nominees) – All of Air New Zealand’s winning campaigns were different, funny and innovative.

Note to other marketers: See the theme here?

‘Ad Campaign of the Year’ for 2016 went to Air New Zealand for their clever ‘A Better Way to Fly’ idea whilst they won ‘Social media idea of the year’ for their hilariously brilliant ‘Summer Wonderland’ campaign with Ronan Keating.

‘The Best Influencer Campaign Award’ saw Tourism Australia bring home the Byron Bay based booty with Chris Hemsworth essentially breaking the internet as our favourite home grown influencer with star appeal.

‘Best Travel Website of the Year’ went to Qantas for their ‘Qantas Travel Insider’ site as well as ‘Publication of the year’ for their revamped Inflight magazine.

Travel Insurance Direct won the PR idea of the year for their quirky ‘Homesickness Hotline’ whilst Luxury Escapes won ‘Best Use of Native or Content Marketing’ for the ‘Luxury Escapes The World’s Best Holidays’ TV show on Channel 7.

The awesome ‘A word from Dave the goose’ campaign won Air New Zealand the ‘Best Media Strategy’ and fittingly capped off their four-award haul by taking home the final gong of the night as ‘Travel marketing team of the year’.

And as if winning awards wasn’t enough for Air New Zealand, they also just launched their new ‘spacious’ economy seats this week too. Read on for more.

Congratulations to all the award winners! Which one was your favourite this year?
