Are you guilty of these irritating passenger habits in the sky?

As much as we all like to think of ourselves as perfect citizens, some of us have to be the seat kickers, snorers and stink bombs at 30,000 feet up in the air. So the question is: Are you one of them?

As much as we all like to think of ourselves as perfect citizens, some of us have to be the seat kickers, snorers and stink bombs at 30,000 feet up in the air. So the question is: Are you one of them?

Expedia recently surveyed over 1,000 Americans aged over 18 and revealed what passenger habits people find most annoying when flying. Topping the list, according to the plane etiquette study, are seat kickers, inattentive parents and smelly passengers – including those with bad B.O. and those that douse themselves in too much perfume or aftershave.

Other annoying habits include passengers that drink way too much, those that talk way too much, and those that take off way too many pieces of clothing.

What’s particularly funny with this study are the names given to these socially challenged passengers. For example, those that smell are called “Aromatic” passengers, those that talk too loud or play their music at 1 million decibels are called “Audio Insensitive” passengers, those that drink too much are appropriately called “Boozers” and those that can’t keep their mouths shut are called “Chatty Cathy” passengers.

Okay, so now that we’ve correctly identified the offenders – and given them hilarious names – what do we do when stuck on a flight with them for hours on end?

According to the study, 62 percent of people get the attention of a flight attendant to handle the disruptive passengers, whilst 33 percent don’t do anything at all and just suffer in silence.

Others resort to tit-for-tat retaliation against the offending passenger, whilst others capture the bad behaviour on their phones to later upload to social media – such as this Instagram account that publicly shames the badly behaved amongst us!

But we’re not finished with these results.

The survey also found out that only 66 percent of passengers actually put their phones on airplane mode when flying, whilst 15 percent never do. But then again, leaving your phone on when flying doesn’t actually pose any security threat – or does it?
