It’s hard not to daydream about travelling when you work at KarryOn. Here are some of the destinations we’re itching to visit in 2017.

Today, TripAdvisor announced their top destinations for 2017 so we decided to put together our very own KarryOn awe inspiring destination list.

We’re not going to lie, it took us a while to narrow down our favourite picks from the world’s top places to visit.

So, buckle up – here’s where we’re looking to travel to this year.

Nahrain John, News Editor – Hawaii

I hear it’s where Christina Aguilera goes on holidays 🙂 Jokes! It’s got sun, shopping, coloured sand, adorable turtles, food, food and more food. More importantly, the US has a large military base in Hawaii, so for a single gal like me it’s like a little sexy slice of heaven. See you in Hawaii baby!

What else can we say about Hawaii aye? It’s already most people’s idea of a tropical paradise.

The word evokes images of friendly locals, amazing cocktails, history and a whole lot of relaxation. Bring. It. On!

Their six unique islands offer completely different experiences and activities, or just bask in its splendid natural beauty.

Devour:

If you eat meat, you can’t leave Hawaii without trying the Kalua Pig. It’s cooked in an underground oven and slow roasted for 12 hours leaving the meat so buttery soft that it practically melts in your mouth.

I really want to explore the picture perfect small towns and experience the hospitality of the local people

American airlines can now operate commercial flights to Cuba and the destination has reemerged as a popular tourism destination for those in other parts of the world as well such as Europe, Canada and even far-off Australia.

This place is an assault on the senses, filled with aromas, and the innate musicality makes Cuba a wildly exuberant place.

Dance the night away:

Going all the way to Cuba and not participating in a little salsa, meringue, cha-cha or bachata session is a travesty. We know it may be a bit intimidating to strut your stuff in front of locals who were born dancing, but it’s all fun and games.

Shaun Busuttil, Features Writer – Iceland

Raw, rugged, and wild, Iceland isn’t as cold as you may think, but it’s even more beautiful than you can imagine!

Iceland has become the new darling destination and is predicted to remain a hot destination for 2017 and what’s not to love about this magical place?

Given the remote location you really feel like you are at the end of the world when you are soaking in the blue lagoon (just don’t wet your hair since the water contains sulphate) riding on the Icelandic ponies and tucking into whale meat for lunch.

Hike around the Kerid volcanic crater lake:

Explore the Kerid volcanic crater lake which is about 55 m deep or go on a self-drive tour to discover the best of Iceland from behind the wheels.

New Zealand is so close to Australia however I’ve never crossed the ditch so I’m looking forward to exploring this magical country and visiting some of the famous filming locations.

Picturesque. That’s really the only way to describe it, no wonder it was selected as the backdrop to the Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, it just seems ridiculously magical.

It’s not only beautiful but a popular destination for thrill seekers too with plenty of activities to get your blood pumping. Oh and if you love your beer, they’ve got some world class craft beer too.

Step into fantasy:

If you’re a fan of JRR Tolkien’s work then you’d be absolutely stoked to see the real life incarnation of a piece of middle earth – Hobbiton, you will see Hobbit Holes, The Green Dragon Inn, The Mill, double arched bridge and other structures and gardens built for the films.

Matt Leedham, KarryOn Founder – Italy

Wine… Take me to wine…

Where do you begin when it comes to talking up Italia? Food? Vino? Football? Gelato? Fashion? Beaches? Culture? LARGE HELPINGS OF EVERYTHING PLEASE!

For some reason I still haven’t made it yet to ‘that revered place’ for so many stylish, beautiful things. My wife is a big fan and has been egging me on to go for years so the hope is we can make it over there in 2017.

I’d love to got to the San Siro Stadium and watch the Milan football derby as well as visit the Amalfi Coast, Venice and maybe relax with my family in a villa in Tuscany… I can dream.

Hike Cinque Terre’s villages:

A popular experience to take on for the intrepid is to hike between the five iconic villages of Cinqe Terre. Walk between Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. All are connected by well-trodden hiking trails that will take you through gorgeous flowering fields, past medieval churches and alongside stunning vineyards. Plus, if you get tired you can always catch the ferry or get the train to the next destination.
