Being on an Arabian Nights adventure in Oman was a treat for TravelManagers, but it was made all-the-more incredible when Prince Harry casually walked past at the Grand Mosque in Muscat.
TravelManagers’ Anne Maree Selmo was on a ten-day CT Partner famil of Six Senses Gulf State Resorts with eight other agents when she had her first royal encounter.
The representative for Edithvale in Victoria said the Princewalked past the group at the mosque while on his very own tour of Oman.
Royalty aside, the tour of Abu Dhabi and Oman included visits to Muscat and Zighy Bay.
Selmo said she was amazed by the ‘sheer opulence’ of the countless mosques, including the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi where she saw one of the world’s largest chandeliers.
“[It is] made with Swarovski crystals and weighing around 12 tonnes.”

Selmo said she found the famil very useful to experience these Arab states first hand, as it gave her a better appreciation of the cultural protocols to be followed when visiting holy sites.
This includes wearing long pants – not skinny jeans – long sleeves and a scarf that covers the head.
“Being able to give my clients really detailed advice about this sort of this ensures that they won’t be disappointed when they get there.”
