You sent a postcard from your holiday instead of an Facebook post….
You actually had to make the effort to walk to the souvenir shop, take your time to pick the most enticing postcard that would make all your loved ones envious of your tropical holiday oasis.
Then you would sit by the pool with your 5 postcards in hand and painstakingly to try to squeeze your essay into the microscopic section so you didn’t overlap the address or the 4 postage stamps it seemed to require to get your postcard home (which ironically would always arrive a week AFTER you had returned) not to mention trying to keep your writing from sloping down the postcard due to lack of lineage whilst fending off all the chlorine droplets smudging your text…………………..fast forward 10 years and we now take 20 shots of the same thing with our selfie sticks, choose the image that best hides our huge pimple, zoom, crop, filter and tag every man and his dog and post to every single person we know!
People smoked on aeroplanes
You could literally be sitting in your non- smoking seat whilst the passenger in front was chain smoking their cigar in their smoking seat! (As a 12 year old on a 7 hr flight to Bali, this was not the highlight of one’s first aeroplane experience!)
A thirty minute departure delay meant missing your onward connections
