The plan is... get more Aussies to visit Chile

Get more Aussies to visit Chile - that's the plan and communications consultancy Hill+Knowlton Strategies Australia (H+K) is in charge of making it happen.

Get more Aussies to visit Chile – that’s the plan and communications consultancy Hill+Knowlton Strategies Australia (H+K) is in charge of making it happen.

This week, the company was appointed as the marketing and PR company to manage Turismo Chile’s efforts in Australia.

The announcement comes after the agency’s collaboration in producing the Chile Roadshow that took place in Sydney and Melbourne earlier this year.

Penelope Holloway, Managing Director of H+K, is delighted about the new opportunity and said the main focus now would be to encourage more Aussies to head on over to Chile.

“The plan is to get a whole lot more Aussies over there to see [Chile] for themselves.”

“Building that awareness and then converting that consideration is something we’re all truly excited about.”

How will H+K build awareness of the country?

Well, the communications company will hop on the back of growing interest in South America travel and the increasing number of airlines making the region more accessible.

Holloway says the company is also uniquely positioned to achieve ‘maximum results’ for the tourism bureau.

Earlier this year, Turismo Chile’s Long Haul Markets Manager, Pablo Javier Retamal, told KarryOn that around 50,000 Aussies visit Chile every year.

This figure has been on a steady incline since 2012 when Qantas launched flights to the destination.

Retamal said he’s now excited by the potential growth that can be achieved through the new relationship with Hill+Knowlton.

“After the way H+K successfully handled our recent Chile Roadshow, I was impressed by their integrated approach to marketing communications and travel trade engagement alongside the traditional PR nous.”
