Remember last week’s Opera House debacle? The one where tourists were evacuated and ferries were cancelled to allow a police clearing of the area?
Police said the inspection was undertaken after receiving information on social media. They didn’t elaborate on the information received but many speculated it may have been relate to a bomb threat.
Well, apparently speculations may have been correct, but we’ve now discovered that the threat is believed to have been posted by a 17-year-old teenager.

According to reports, the 17-year-old made the threat at around 10.50am on Thursday morning, forcing police to close the attraction and the surrounding area along with Manly where a second threat was made.
The word ‘idiot’ comes to mind.
An investigation into the social media post lead to the teen’s arrest on Monday when he or she was charged with false representation.
The teenager is scheduled to appear in Children’s Court on 23 February.
