Britain's National Poo Museum to go on tour in 2017

Fact: in Britain, it's illegal to queue jump, knock on someone's door and then run away, and misuse your car horn – which means using it for anything other than alerting a passenger to imminent danger.

Fact: in Britain, it’s illegal to queue jump, knock on someone’s door and then run away, and misuse your car horn – which means using it for anything other than alerting a passenger to imminent danger.

And according to Mr. David Brent from the hit BBC television show, The Office, it’s also against the law to burn anything displaying the Queen’s image – including postage stamps!

But here’s something you almost certainly didn’t know: Britain has its own museum dedicated – literally – to $hit, and it’s no longer content on keeping its significant poo collection all to itself.

Indeed, the Isle of Wight’s National Poo Museum is currently looking to expand the reach of its ‘crappy’ exhibition far and wide by embarking on a tour next year across the U.K. and perhaps even further afield – maybe even to Australia!

The National Poo Museum is the first of its kind in the United Kingdom, and it opened its (cubicle) doors to the masses in March earlier this year.

Visitors to the museum can get up close and personal with faeces from more than 20 different animals, including elks, lions, meerkats, pigeons, cows and foxes. But don’t worry: the samples are all encased in glass orbs that can be illuminated with the touch of a button.

The exhibition, when it goes on tour, will also travel with various human poo samples – and no, that’s not some reference to the deposits made in the museum’s toilets! Eww!

As for the highlights – or should we say lowlights? – the touring museum will include fossilized poo samples that date back more than 140 million years, some poo with teeth and bones in it, and faeces that look like cereal bars.

However, it’s still early days, and so far the museum has only received a couple of maybes…

“We’re waiting for places to express an interest in having us so we can get a workable plan for the tour together. We would be very happy to travel far and wide… but it’s still early days for us.”

Daniel Roberts, co-founder of the National Poo Museum, speaking to MailOnline Travel.

The National Poo Museum’s mission is to lift the lid on the secret world of poo, to examine our relationship with it and to change forever the way we think about this amazing substance.

The museum will also be working alongside various charities to raise awareness of digestive health.
