It turns out Australian jet-setters would rather fly First Class than join the mile high club, with 23% of Aussies lusting after a first class ticket.
The findings are part of new research by finder.com.au who surveyed over 2000 Aussie travellers about their number one flying ambitions.
The results are in and almost one in four, or 23% of Aussies would like to fly first class. Only 23%? We thought everyone would be up for this.
Second on the list was the thrill of a free upgrade, with 17% holding out for their chance to be bumped up at no extra cost.
Hot on the heels of a free upgrade was flying business class, appealing to one in ten (or 11% of) Aussies.
Almost one in ten (or 7%) aspire to a free seat on points while a cheeky 5% are keen on joining the mile high club.
Travel Expert at finder.com.au Angus Kidman said Aussies had high hopes when it came to air travel.
“It’s not just about getting from A to B for some people, it’s about the journey – a luxurious one at that,” he said.
“Flying first class is a real status symbol and something a quarter of Aussies aspire to. But luxury flying doesn’t come cheap, so it’s no surprise that a flight paid for by points is high up on the list.”

When it comes to earning frequent flyer points, Kidman said there were many tips and tricks Aussies could use to up their game.
“It’s possible to earn points from all kinds of everyday spending, from booking accommodation to signing up for a new mobile plan,” he said.
