New HA & VA deal makes flying to Hawaii easier for Aussies in Melbourne & Cairns

Relaxing alongside Hawaii's alluring blue waters just got a little easier for tourists around Australia through Hawaiian Airlines & Virgin Australia's expanded agreement.

Relaxing alongside Hawaii’s alluring blue waters just got a little easier for tourists around Australia through Hawaiian Airlines & Virgin Australia’s expanded agreement.

The pair recently announced an expansion to their codeshare arrangement in order to ease travel between Hawaii and Australia, particularly for Aussies living outside the gateways of Brisbane and Sydney.

Commencing 3 April 2019, guests travelling to Hawaii from Melbourne, Cairns, Townsville and Mackay can connect on Hawaiian Airlines codeshare flights to Brisbane and Sydney operated by Virgin Australia.

Starting April 10, Virgin Australia guests will also be able to book non-stop flights to Honolulu from Brisbane on Virgin Australia codeshare flights operated by Hawaiian Airlines for travel April 17 and beyond. This is in addition to existing codeshare flights between Sydney and Honolulu, as well as Maui, Kauai, and Kona on the Island of Hawai‘i.

New Zealanders in Christchurch, Wellington, Dunedin and other cities, including the alpine resort town of Queenstown, will also be able to travel across the Tasman on Hawaiian codeshare flights operated by Virgin Australia.

Loyalty members of Velocity Frequent Flyer and HawaiianMiles will also be able to earn and redeem points or mile for travel on either carrier.

Hawaiian Airlines’ Regional Director in Australia and New Zealand, Andrew Stanbury, said the airline looks forward to sharing its hospitality with Virgin Australian guests.
