Not even socially distance boardroom chairs could contain the excitement and happiness of all those involved in making the 2023 dream of hosting the FIFA Women’s World Cup a reality.

Australia and New Zealand received the highest score in FIFA’s technical evaluation, earning 4.1 out of five in the report compared to Colombia’s 2.8.
Celebrations
The Matildas have well and truly scored, winning the bid and having the opportunity to take home the 2023 World Cup on home soil.
The confirmation that Australia and New Zealand will jointly host the next FIFA Women’s World Cup is a massive moment for sport down under.
Under the bid, Auckland’s Eden Park is scheduled to host the opening game, with Sydney’s Stadium Australia pencilled in for the final.
Other Australian venues include Lang Park in Brisbane, Adelaide’s Hindmarsh Stadium, Perth Oval, Newcastle stadium, Melbourne’s AAMI Park and Launceston’s York Park.
The 2023 Women’s World Cup will be held in July and August in 2023, and the tournament has been expanded to include 32 teams, with Australia and New Zealand both automatically qualified as host teams.
