Can’t decide whether you’d like your next trip to be for theme park thrills or an ocean adventure? Well, on Carnival Cruise Line’s new ship, Mardi Gras, you won’t have to choose!
Excitement is building for Carnival Cruise Line’s sparkly new Mardi Gras ship, due to debut next year.
It’s not really surprising that cruise lovers and theme park enthusiasts around the world are holding out for the debut, as the new ship will feature the world’s first-ever roller coaster at sea, BOLT.

The first-of-its-kind coaster will take passengers on a thrilling ride around 700ft (213m) of track, as high as 180ft (55m) above sea level, with an acceleration twice the amount of a Porsche 911, if you so wish.
To make it even cooler, this coaster allows you to be a part of the experience. You will be able to choose your own fun on the ride.

Check out the first look of BOLT in this video, where Cruise director, Matt Mitcham, shows off the awesome features of the new onboard ride.
The coaster will take two people on motorcycle-style ride, where riders can control their speed and compete with others for the fastest lap times. Get ready to get competitive!
As well as getting your adrenalin pumping, the track will also provide stunning 360-degree ocean views.
If that’s not enough, BOLT will also have in-ride speakers, complete with sound effects and built-in cameras, so riders can download and share the photos of them screaming, cheering, or pulling silly faces on the ‘gram!

Before you can ride on BOLT, the roller coaster has to be completed, disassembled and then reconstructed on the Mardi Gras, which is currently being built in Finland.
The Mardi Gras will debut in 2021 from Port Canaveral, Florida, and will feature 2,600 staterooms and six themed zones throughout the ship. As with all Carnival Cruise ships, a plethora of dining and entertainment options will be onboard.
