Norwegian Prima, the first of Norwegian Cruise Line’s Prima Class ships, will make her epic debut on 26 August with an inaugural eight-day voyage from Reykjavik, Iceland after being christened by pop princess godmother Katy Perry.
The new NCL vessel is the first of six brand-new Prima Class ships to be delivered over six years and the first major cruise ship to be blessed and named in Iceland.
Fittingly, a select group of travel industry insiders experienced an Icelandic lunch at Meu Jardim in Sydney’s CBD, a venue inspired by European glaciers, to celebrate in style and have a sneak peek of the innovative attributes of the new Prima.
A ship of firsts

Norwegian Prima is the most spacious new ship in the premium cruise category, redefining what’s possible at sea with ground-breaking onboard experiences, including NCL’s largest-ever accommodations, spellbinding entertainment, indulgent relaxation and incredible culinary experiences.
NCL APAC Vice-President and Managing Director Ben Angell told Karryon that he’s most looking forward to The Haven by Norwegian, an exclusive suite enclave with refined offerings, such as a private restaurant, lounge, bar, sundeck, infinity pool, hot tubs and 24-hour butler.
“We’ve reimagined what’s really unique to us in our Haven concept, which features exclusive amenities and exceptional service for guests of The Haven,” he said.
“I don’t believe there are higher levels of service on any ships today and that’s going to be even further elevated on the premium class ships for more time to explore and enjoy your experience.”
Created for cruisers

Mr Angell said Prima was created with a guest-first philosophy, which has been well-received by Aussie and Kiwi cruisers.
“Every innovation is purposeful. It’s meaningful. It’s built out of what guests want. So it’s no surprise Prima is resonating extremely well with Australians and New Zealanders,” he said.

“Beyond the design, it’s because of the incredible destinations of Iceland, Norway and Northern Europe and longer itineraries, which as we all know Australians and New Zealanders love.
“Norwegian Prima is our most spacious new ship with the most expansive outdoor deck space of any shipping class that’s perhaps the most serendipitous part – she was designed pre-pandemic with exactly what guests want: space.”
Ground-breaking innovation at sea

Norwegian Prima will have NCL’s first Indulge Food Hall with 11 casual dining stations plus nine new food and beverage concepts.
For aesthetes, there is the first charcoal sauna at sea, Mandara Spa; and a USD$6 million art collection.
Onboard amenities include the world’s first three-level go-kart racetrack at sea, the 420m Prima Speedway; two stunning infinity pools at Infinity Beach; duelling water slides, The Drop & The Rush – the fastest at sea; more than 40 virtual attractions and Vegas-style entertainment and venues.
For Norwegian Prima’s inaugural season, book now for up to 40 per cent off cruise fares, a complimentary beverage package, shore excursion credit, specialty dining package, Wi-Fi package and access to NCL’s ‘3rd and 4th guest sail at a reduced rate’ offer.
