AFTA just announced the return of the beloved National Travel Industry Awards (NTIA) and released their nominees for Most Outstanding Industry Support – Cruise.

It can be challenging for Australians to give themselves props when due, so we’re doing it for them. It’s true that “not all heroes wear capes”: when other businesses cut corners (and losses), Avalon Waterways used its values to navigate the choppy waters of border closures, cancellations, travel hesitancy, and outright fear.

Through their superhero-esque actions, we were all witnesses to their principles of service, collaboration, accountability, integrity, courage, and passion.

Avalon’s low call times have been a blessing, as has the constant contact from their sales team. Part of the Globus Family of Brands (GFOB), Avalon made a commitment to serving agents when they needed to support them most.

On-the-ball calls were made advising agents of booking options after tour cancellations. They also offered options of refunds and credits and explained GFOB’s Peace of Mind plan.  

Not only did this high level of communication take some of the stress out of the high volume of cancellations, but it also strengthened relationships. Who doesn’t remember that pal that checked on you in your time of need?
