What’s the best job in travel? Is it the one you’re already doing?

Working in travel is one of the most envy-inducing industries among those who dream of being immersed in exciting destinations, new routes and destinations and inspiring itineraries. So, we asked our Karryon: Together In Travel community: "If you could do any job in travel, what would it be?"

Working in travel is one of the most envy-inducing industries among those who dream of being immersed in exciting destinations, new routes and destinations and inspiring itineraries. So, we asked our Karryon: Together In Travel community: “If you could do any job in travel, what would it be?”

And overwhelmingly, the answer was the one you’re already doing.

Travel leaders such as Bunnik Tours Joint-CEO Dennis Bunnik and many others commented that they love the job they’re doing right now.

Being in the travel industry made many in the community grateful for the travel opportunities available as part of their career and for combining their love for travel with helping people, whether retail, wholesale or support.

Famils are some of the perks of working in travel.

Many travel advisors shared that they “love making other people’s dreams come true” and “helping families make lasting memories”.

The connection with people was an overarching theme, with respondents telling us they love being a tour or expedition guide, supporting independent advisors, facilitating training or the camaraderie with colleagues in the industry.

Some of the Together In Travel community are keen to experience different aspects of the industry, such as a pilot, baggage handler, ground crew, cruise ship entertainer or even Qantas CEO.

Quite a few of you have lofty ambitions to be a first-class or business-class flight reviewer or luxury resort mystery shopper – which, if it’s a thing, same! – while others are keen on trying their hand at content creation, whether that’s as a travel photographer, TV presenter, blogger or on social media.

Some sports fans wouldn’t mind booking travel for a team or organisation or simply being professional, touring worldwide for all the top events and tournaments.
