Carnival Splendor embarked on her first Aussie passenger cruise in almost three years, launching with a ‘Back to Fun’ event on 1 October with an excited bunch of 3,500-plus passengers aboard for the four-day cruise to Tangalooma, Moreton Island.
Hosted by Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy and Carnival fun-bassador Beau Ryan at the Overseas Passenger Terminal, Sydney cruise fans Joe and Van Huddleston were the first passengers on board, celebrating their 80th Carnival cruise.
“We know Aussies have been patiently waiting for Carnival to return to their sunny shores for some time but now we’re pleased to say that fun is officially back on the water,” Ms Duffy said.
“As we celebrate 10 years in Australia later this month and welcome the arrival of our newest ship, Carnival Luminosa, to Brisbane in November, there’s a lot to look forward to from Carnival and even more fun to be had.”

First arriving in late 2019, Carnival Splendor was only in Sydney for a few months before departing due to a global pause in operations.
Now operating year-round from her Sydney homeport, Carnival Splendor will provide Sydneysiders with cruises across Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.

Carnival Cruise Line Vice President Kara Glamore said: “To finally welcome Carnival Splendor home is an incredible milestone and a credit to the dedication of our amazing team.”
“It’s been a long journey to get here and we cannot thank our trade partners, our suppliers and, of course, our guests enough for their ongoing support.”
