East Coast to Coral Coast: Qantas launches Melbourne to Exmouth route from $399 one-way

Victorians will be able to jet-set direct to the West with Qantas’ new non-stop Melbourne–Exmouth flights taking off from April 2023, which will shave three hours’ flying time off the current indirect route.

Victorians will be able to jet-set direct to the West with Qantas’ new non-stop Melbourne–Exmouth flights taking off from April 2023, which will shave three hours’ flying time off the current indirect route.

Qantas will launch the new route with more than 2,500 one-way fares of $399, thanks to the support of the WA Government.

The new service is the airline’s first interstate service into the region and will provide a convenient five-hour flight to access WA’s Coral Coast, home to World Heritage-listed Ningaloo Reef.

Exmouth was also named Australia’s top small tourism town at the recent 2022 Australian Tourism Awards held at Parliament House earlier this month.

Coral Coast residents will also benefit from direct access to Melbourne and seamless connections to the east coast through to Qantas’ extensive domestic and international network.

Qantas Domestic & International CEO Andrew David said the new service would open up the Coral Coast for more travellers, boosting the region’s tourist economy.

“Home to Ningaloo and the Cape Range National Park, the Coral Coast is an unforgettable holiday and now we’ll be able to fly Victorians there direct, cutting the journey length, opening up more time to swim with the whale sharks,” he said.

WA Deputy Premier and Tourism Minister Roger Cook said: “The State Government is proud to partner with Qantas to make it easier for visitors from Victoria and the east coast to visit Exmouth – officially Australia’s Top Small Tourism Town.”

“Western Australia’s Coral Coast will now be more affordable and accessible for visitors to experience the phenomenal Ningaloo Reef, swim with whale sharks and experience the region’s awesome landscapes.”

Qantas will operate two return services each week from 30 April until 26 October 2023 on its Boeing 737 aircraft.

The airfare sale is part of Tourism Western Australia’s new ‘Walking On A Dream’ brand, which encourages visitors to immerse themselves in otherworldly landscapes, such as the Coral Coast, throughout the state.
