Australian company Rail Online now has live VIA Rail Canada journeys available to book on its website with all prices in Australian dollars, allowing travel advisors to self-manage all bookings and amendments, minus foreign transaction fees.
VIA Rail operates some of North America’s most iconic rail journeys as well as services along Canada’s major travel corridors, which Rail Online CEO James Dunne said are increasingly popular with Aussies.
“The corridor services pass through beautiful scenery and the company offers generous luggage allowances and regular services, making it ideal for international travellers,” he said.
“VIA Rail’s iconic Vancouver–Toronto service The Canadian is one of the world’s most celebrated train journeys, taking passengers on a four-day, 4,400km voyage through the Canadian Rockies.”
The introduction of VIA Rail follows the live Amtrak inventory added to the OTA’s website in August, providing unprecedented convenience for Australians travelling to North America.

“Rail Online now offers a comprehensive range of rail travel options across North America at a time when the US and Canada have never been more popular with Australian travellers,” Mr Dunne said.
VIA Rail Senior Manager of International & Domestic Sales Josephine Wasch welcomed the Rail Online team aboard.
“We are delighted to work with a fast-growing company that has a clear vision to make rail travel as accessible as possible to international travellers,” Ms Wasch said.
“We look forward to a long and successful partnership to introduce customers across the globe to the wonder of discovering Canada by train.”
