The touring specialists for Africa, Indian subcontinent, China, North & Southeast Asia with a range of escorted, combination, group tours, tailor-made touring and excursions. MW Tours are looking for an experienced Travel Consultant to join the team.
Working within the integrated Brisbane-based team, the successful applicant will provide an intermediary service between travel agents, clients and suppliers to plan prearranged or FIT tours. These services may range from straightforward tasks such as booking direct flights to coordinating entire tour experiences including complex itineraries, accommodation, transport, flights, day tours and much more.

Here’s what you’ll need to apply:
- 3 year’s experience in the Travel Industry
- GDS proficiency(preferably Sabre)
- Sufficient knowledge & Intermediate skill of Microsoft Products (such as Outlook, Excel, Word etc)
- Country knowledge of the following destinations is preferred: Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, Vietnam, India, Indochina, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Tibet, Philippines, Bhutan & Africa.
- Strong Sales & Customer Service Skills
- High Attention to detail with low errors
- Strong communication skills both oral & written
- Take Initiative & be a strategic thinker with an analytical approach to tasks
- Team Player mentality
- Demonstrate strong time management skills
Your responsibilities will include:
- Liaising with clients in person, over the phone or via other channels (such as webchat, email, sms etc) to discuss their travel requirements.
- Advising clients on suitable options for our tour packages – which may include, domestic or international flights, accommodation, transport and insurance (but not limited to)
- Preparing customised itineraries to suit the clients’ preferences and budget.
- Making and confirming bookings, via multiple systems (such as GDS, CRM or via personalised contact methods)
- Issuing tickets or relevant documents.
- Providing up to date advice on travel regulations, baggage limits, safety and local customs. (excluding including visa and medical requirements – these must be referred onto the relevant authority)
- Modifying existing bookings to suit a change in clients’ circumstances.
- Researching destinations and keeping up to date with travel industry news on sites like karryon.com.au.
- Ongoing training with other team members and management.
What will give you the edge?

- A killer reference from a previous employer/manager
- Specialist knowledge of Japan and/ or Africa would be highly regarded
- Qualifications and training in particular GDS systems (flexibility on Sabre or other)
- Experience in handling challenging clients, both over the phone & face to face
- Being open to attending events and training sessions around set working hours representing the business
