Whether it’s business or busyness, it’s fair to say we’ve all got a lot going on at the moment. If your clients are keen to travel again – but haven’t quite got there yet – Qantas is giving them 12 more months to use their COVID travel credits. That means their travel credit travel period is now extended up until December 2024!
That’s right – there’s now a 12-month extension on the previous ‘travel by’ of 31 December 2023.
Your clients will still need to book their flights by 31 December 2023 but will have until December 2024 to complete their travel.
Qantas travel can be booked up to a maximum of 353 days in advance, so on 31 December 2023, this will mean flights can be booked up to 19 December 2024.
Thanks to this travel date extension, the Qantas Group COVID credit program is one of the most flexible among global carriers with some already expiring COVID credits.
What travel credits are eligible for the extension?

Remember when Qantas issued credits to customers impacted by travel disruptions during the pandemic?
Qantas COVID travel credits have been extended three times since 2020 and this fourth and final extension to the travel date is designed to make it easier for your customers to use their remaining credits for their next domestic or international trip in 2023 or 2024.
This extension follows other initiatives that Qantas has introduced over the past year to make using COVID credits easier for customers.
These include updated commercial policies regarding COVID-related travel disruptions with added flexibility to make it easier for your customers to use their credits in time.
What can the travel credits be redeemed for?

Qantas COVID travel credits can be used on sale fares and frequent flyer flight promotions, so your customers can enjoy maximum value.
Change booking fees will not be charged however additional fares/taxes may apply for new ticket fares.
Here’s what your customers are entitled to with the new credit extension:
- Clients can receive one fee-free change to move their travel dates from 2023 to 2024 on valid Qantas tickets issued before 30 September 2021 and reissued before 16 March 2023.
- Clients can use their ticket credit to rebook domestic or international travel or rebook to a new customer (name change) by 31 March 2023.
- Qantas-issued tickets can be held in credit for future travel until 31 December 2023 and then reissued by 31 December 2023 and travel completed within ticket validity.
Wait… I can’t locate my clients’ travel credits. Help!
Can’t locate those emails? Qantas will launch its ‘Find My Credit’ tool in April to help those who have lost track of their original booking details reunite with their unused credit.
You’ll also receive credit balance reminders and prompts to encourage your customers to use up their credits when booking flights.
