Bonza Chief Commercial Officer Carly Povey hinted there are more route announcements to come for the low-cost carrier, which launched on 31 January.

“Customer feedback and support from the community has been phenomenal. Now all 13 routes are wheels up from the Sunny Coast, our team of legends are focusing on earning the right to grow,” Ms Povey said.

Since its inaugural flight from the Sunshine Coast to Whitsunday Coast until 30 April, the airline has carried more than 60,000 travellers in and out of the Sunshine Coast.

Some of the busiest routes include Sunshine Coast to Albury, Avalon, Cairns, Melbourne (Tullamarine) and Townsville.

Passengers from Tamworth were welcomed by a troupe of Sunshine Coast line dancers and musicians from the Gympie Music Muster.

Passengers have also embraced the inflight all-Aussie menu with its emphasis on locally sourced products with Sunshine Coast-made Silver Tongue Foods lavosh crackers the most popular item with 65kg sold.

Customers have also consumed more than 790 litres of beer or 16 kegs onboard, including brews from Your Mates Brewing, Spinifex, Ballistic and Heaps Normal.

Enough ‘Snags in a Bag’ have been sold that if laid end to end, they would be longer than six Boeing 737-8 aircraft.

Sunshine Coast Airport CEO Andrew Brodie said: “Bonza is now wheels up from its home base marking a major milestone for the airport as we look forward to a bright future with Australia’s newest airline, future infrastructure upgrades and the 2032 Olympics.”
