Malaysia Airlines (MH) will up capacity on Adelaide and Sydney to Kuala Lumpur routes from 5-22 July and 27 September – 14 October 2024 to cater for school holiday demand. The additional flights will add an extra 7,500 seats from Australia to Malaysia.
MH currently operates 53 weekly flights between Australia and New Zealand and Malaysia and expects to reach full recovery this year by Q2.
The additional Adelaide flights will depart on Sundays at 10:20pm, arriving in Kuala Lumpur at 7am or 8am local time the next day, depending on daylight savings.
The extra Adelaide-Kuala Lumpur flights will depart on Mondays at 10:50am, touching down in KL at 4pm (October) or 5pm (July) local time.
The two additional Sydney-Kuala Lumpur flights will depart on Fridays at 11:45pm, arriving in KL at 10:10am or 11:10am local time the next day, and on Saturdays at 11:40am or 12:40pm, touching down in KL at 6:30pm local time.
The extra flights are now available to book in the Global Distribution System (GDS).
Ramped-up demand for India
Malaysia Aviation Group CCO of Airlines Dersenish Aresandiran added that demand for travel between Australia and New Zealand and India also remained strong, increasing its frequency from Kuala Lumpur to Amritsar to four weekly flights from 1 August 2024.
