With seven new cruise ships debuting in 2024 and 2025, AmaWaterways has opened reservations for its 2026 season early amid a surge in demand. New for the 2026 season are two more river ships, land packages and onshore excursions.

The seven new ships debuting in 2024 and 2025 will ply inner waterways in Portugal, Egypt, Colombia and Europe with an additional two river vessels due in 2026.

AmaSofia will sail the Danube from 24 May 2026 while AmaMaya (the previously named AmaKaia) is expected to join AmaDara on the Mekong from 3 August.

AmaWaterways Managing Director Australia & New Zealand Steve Richards said the river cruise line will be able to meet the increasing demand of Australian and New Zealand travellers on the Rhine, Main, Danube and Mekong rivers with the new ships.

AmaWaterways will also introduce two new land packages in 2026 as add-ons to the seven-night Taste of Bordeaux itineraries: a four-night pre-cruise accommodation and tour option in Madrid and San Sebastián or three nights in Paris.

In addition, three sailings on the Rhine River will feature a new excursion to Utrecht in the Netherlands, including the seven-night Christmas Markets on the Rhine itinerary, while the seven-night Vineyards of the Rhine & Moselle itinerary will include the historic German hot-spring hotspot of Wiesbaden.

AmaWaterways will continue to offer two Colombia itineraries for 2026 after debuting the destination in 2025 with pre- and post-cruise optional land packages available.

Likewise, Egypt cruise passengers can soak up more of the Middle East with optional land packages in Dubai or Jordan or combine a four-night Zambezi Queen cruise on Africa’s Chobe River with rail, safari or city stay experiences.

AmaWaterways officially opened its Australasian office in Sydney in May.
