Virgin Australia has kicked off the new financial year with a bonus windfall of more than one million fares on sale until 8 July 2024 for travel between 30 July 2024 and 3 June 2025. The discounts are available across the VA network with prices from $49 one-way.
Destinations on sale for one week only include domestic and international short-haul flights such as Bali, Fiji, Japan, Samoa, Vanuatu, Queenstown, Gold Coast, Hamilton Island and Perth.
The mega mid-year sale has one-way Economy Lite fares from Ballina (Byron Bay) to Sydney from $49, Melbourne-Launceston one-way from $59 and one-way from Sydney to either the Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast from $69.

Brisbane flights start from $75 for one-way flights to Prosperpine (Whitsundays), Cairns from $99 and Uluṟu from $119 one-way.
From Melbourne, travellers can fly one-way to the Gold Coast from $99 or Canberra from $115.

For overseas flights, VA has Melbourne to Queenstown return Economy Lite fares starting from $405, from Melbourne or Sydney to Bali from $519, Brisbane-Nadi from $549 return or Cairns-Tokyo (Haneda) from $679 return.
The sale also includes the recently announced additional Vanuatu flight capacity from Brisbane to Port Vila from 9 July 2024 after the collapse of Air Vanuatu.
Partner airline Qatar Airways also revealed an interest in a potential 20 per cent stake in VA.
