Retail stores closed from midday on Saturday 6 July 2024 as Flighties from around Australia descended on Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre for the third annual Flichella 2024 EOFY event, celebrating Flight Centre Travel Group’s people with a stellar musical act lineup and formal awards.
This year saw the annual outdoor music festival head indoors with a ‘Boogie Wonderland’ theme that was embraced with more sequins than you could shake a feather boa at.
FCTG companies held Brand Meetings with awards before the main event with Travel Associates going all out with a Disco Deluxe Afternoon Tea.
Flight Centre Brand also kicked off with an award ceremony, recognising the achievements of its Australian retail and head office workforce. Some are also heading to Lisbon later this week for FCTG’s Global Gathering (more on that to come).
Some notable awards included FCB Top Novice Molly Pitkin from Queen Street Mall in Brisbane, who wrote almost $3.7 million in sales, and FC HQ’s Bhavna Thapar, who won an Outstanding Achievement Award for Marketing.
What happened at Flichella 2024
Flichella 2024 opened with a Welcome to Country followed by an amazing Aussie dance act lineup that saw top talent such as Sneaky Sound System, Baker Boy and Bag Raiders taking to the stage.
Self-proclaimed international superstar and Berlin boy Hans (Australia’s Got Talent) handled the MC and hosting duties along with DJ Wildflower to get the party started.
Flichella 2024 sponsors featured a who’s who of FCTG partners and suppliers with major contributors such as Europ Assistance, Singapore Airlines, Fiji Airways, Tourism and Events Queensland, Sabre, Humm90 and The Ascot Limited.
Other airline, cruise, touring, car hire and hospitality sponsors included Air Canada, ANA, Hawaiian Airlines, Air New Zealand, China Eastern, China Southern, Carnival, Intrepid Travel, Lufthansa, Qatar Airways, Rex, Royal Caribbean International, Scenic, Sixt, United Airlines and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.
Sponsors also got on board the Flichella 2024 disco train with Sabre hosting a 360-degree photobooth and Sixt ride simulators along with best-dressed awards, dance-off competitions, international food and beverage areas and more.
