Travel Fest: Klook welcomes over 10,000 people to its first live event in Sydney

The inaugural Klook Travel Fest, hosted by TV personality Faustina ‘Fuzzy’ Agolley, took place on Saturday, November 30, at Carriageworks in Sydney.

According to Klook, more than 10,000 people turned up for the big day to snap up exclusive travel discounts and prizes and hear expert tips from industry insiders and social media content makers Kat, Deja Clark, and Sofia Ligeros.

The event was the first offline consumer-focused event in the travel app’s history in Australia, offering travellers the chance to experience a fresh take on the traditional ‘travel expo’. Themed around 90s console games, attendees enjoyed a huge selection of virtual destination and experience-themed games and challenges across several Minecraft-esque ‘worlds’.

Bringing the concept of gamification into the expo world, hundreds of prizes were given out throughout the day for taking part in the challenges, including trips to Vietnam, Japan, Thailand, and Malaysia.

Klook’s Director of Oceania Marketing, Diana Vidovic, said: “After months of planning and working with our destination partners to deliver an exciting day for our biggest Klook fans, we were thrilled to see so many people flocking to each ‘world’ to enjoy the fun and games.

“It was amazing to see both adults and children getting involved with everything from Hong Kong’s dumpling toss to eliminating aliens in the Nevada desert while taking home some top prizes.

“With over 8,300 travel offers redeemed in the Klook app and over 1,300 travel prizes collected on the day itself, the event was a huge success. We are already geared up and looking forward to bringing an even bigger and better Klook Travel Fest next year.”

The Saturday event wrapped up with an ‘after-dark’ adults-only event session featuring nostalgic DJ tunes from the 90s, cocktails, and food from Cultured Crust and Satay Brothers.

Disneyland California Resort and Walt Disney World were headline event partners. The event is in partnership with the Hong Kong Tourism Board, Korea Tourism Organisation, Los Angeles Tourism, Travel Nevada, Mandai, Rail Europe, and the Philippine Department of Tourism and was supported by Air Asia, Jetstar, VietJet, American Tourister, and Bali Buddies.
