Intrepid Travel launches first-ever Larapinta Trail trip guided by First Nations leaders

Intrepid Travel has teamed up with Indigenous-owned tour operator 100% Finke River Culture & Adventure to offer First Nations-guided Larapinta Trail walking and trekking trips in a first for the certified B Corp company.

Intrepid Travel has teamed up with Indigenous-owned tour operator 100% Finke River Culture & Adventure to offer First Nations-guided Larapinta Trail walking and trekking trips in a first for the certified B Corp company.

From May 2025, travellers can embark on Intrepid Travel’s Trek the Larapinta Trail, a seven-day walking tour in Central Australia guided by two First Nations leaders and a trip leader.

With 10 departures scheduled in 2025, this immersive journey will also offer exclusive access to 100% Finke’s private campsite on the iconic Larapinta Trail.

Hikers will walk 9-16km per day through diverse landscapes, ending at the Rwetyepme (Mt Sonder) summit for panoramic views of Tjoritja (West MacDonnell Ranges).

Intrepid Travel Managing Director ANZ Brett Mitchell said: “Partnering with 100% Finke River offers travellers the chance to gain a deeper understanding of this incredible part of Australia while learning directly from First Nations trip leaders.”

100% Finke River Culture & Adventure Trip Leader Benjamin Kenny said the collaboration brings together the expertise of two organisations, combining deep cultural knowledge with world-class adventure travel to create something truly special.

With this addition, Intrepid Travel now offers more than 40 First Nations experiences across its 66 domestic trips.

“It reinforces our commitment to our Reconciliation Action Plan by fostering long-term relationships with First Nations communities, supporting local employment and investing in training opportunities that create lasting impact,” Mitchell added.
