With sold-out Disney Magic at Sea seasons and a huge wave of interest, Disney Cruise Line has really captured the imagination of Aussie and Kiwi cruisers since launching in October 2023. Karryon recently joined the cast and crew on a Disney Wonder sailing from Sydney to find out if The Happiest Place on Earth is actually on a cruise ship.
With the upcoming 2025-26 Disney Magic at Sea sailings marking the third season Down Under, you’re probably familiar with Disney Cruise Line’s special blend of fun onboard features and elevated amenities that appeal to all types of local sailors. On our sailing, the youngest was six months and the oldest was 92 and on his first-ever cruise.
Aboard the 11-deck Disney Wonder, cruisers can expect immersive Disney storytelling throughout the ship with Broadway-style stage shows, imaginative dining experiences, themed deck parties and Character meet-and-greets.
There’s dedicated spaces for kids clubs and secluded sanctuaries for the grownups, too. But what’s life really like aboard a Disney Magic at Sea sailing?
Here’s our insider tips to help you sell Disney Cruise Line like a pro

On a four-night cruise famil from Sydney to Melbourne for travel trade partners, we were able to experience all the enchantment of Disney Magic at Sea firsthand, using our handy Disney Cruise Line Navigator app to get around and have all the info we need on hand.
To sum up the staterooms in one word? Spacious, spacious, spacious (OK, that’s three words but you get the idea. Our Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah had a king-size bed and a foldout sofa, plus a split bathroom and a verandah. See? Spacious.
Disney Wonder has four main stateroom categories with 10 different room types, so we also have the opportunity to check out other cabins on board from Deluxe Inside and Deluxe Oceanview Staterooms to the luxe Concierge Staterooms.
Pro tip: Bring your US adapter on board!

With a different deck party every night, including fireworks at sea, don’t forget to pack your dancing shoes.
There’s also the Mickey’s Sail-A-Wave… A Bon Voyage Celebration! and Mickey’s Pirates in the Caribbean deck parties on other nights and the one-of-a-kind experience of sailing under the Sydney Harbour Bridge at night.

Other Disney Cruise Line entertainment highlights included The Golden Mickeys, which mimicked the Golden Globe awards show but for Disney Characters and movies; and Frozen, A Musical Spectacular, featuring all-time favourites Elsa, Anna and Olaf.

Disney Dreams – An Enchanted Classic is another onboard show that will elicit an emotional response from its powerful storytelling with classic tales and characters.
Thanks to the Disney and BBC Studios partnership, homegrown fave Bluey also appeared at an exclusive meet-and-greet with Bluey and Bingo joining select 2025-26 season sailings.
We also experienced a Royal Gathering on board – a Disney Princess meet-and-greet – on another occasion.

The immersive experiences extend to dining, such as the Southern-style Tiana’s Place, where you can join the limbo and parade around the restaurant before mains, and the Animator’s Palate, which combines dinner and a show with Disney Characters and includes your own hand-drawn likeness in an animation film over dessert.
As mentioned, there’s plenty of adults-only experiences on offer, too. We joined a fun bartender-led Mixology Class and enjoyed upscale fine dining “under the sea” at Triton’s (named for Ariel the Mermaid’s father) and the adults-only Palo restaurant.

Dining at the Northern Italian with a twist restaurant was exquisite. Tip: Pre-order the molten chocolate lava cake – you will not be sorry, only sorry if you miss out!
An adults-only brunch was also served daily at Palo – a must for the famous Mickey Mouse-shaped waffles and mimosas that are perfect for grown-up kids at heart.
While Sebastian says it’s better down where it’s wetter, by the time the final night rolled around for the traditional Character farewell, ‘Til We Meet Again’, we’ve already found our perfect slice of life – on board.
