French Riviera palace to reopen as COMO hotel after decade-long closure

Saint-Tropez's Le Beauvallon has been used purely as an event space for the last 10 years, and following a soft launch this year, it'll reopen as a COMO in 2026.

Saint-Tropez’s Le Beauvallon has been used purely as an event space for the last 10 years, and following a soft launch this year, it’ll reopen as a COMO in 2026.

The historic hotel, which first opened in 1911, has hosted the likes of Winston Churchill and the Grand Duchess of Luxemburg, and was also used as the backdrop of comedy-drama Two for the Road in the 60s, starring Audrey Hepburn.

Used by the French Government during the war in 1914; by the 1930s it was a place for A-listers, but in 2016 it was transformed into an exclusive-use events space.

Fast forward nearly a decade and this year guests can again stay in one of the 25 sea-facing suites available before it reopens as a COMO in 2026.

The four-hectare property has a private beach club and pontoon for yacht tenders and sits adjacent to Golf Club de Beauvallon.

When it reopens next month, the hotel’s beach club will have a new culinary concept with “an inventive fusion of Asian and Mediterranean flavours, served with panoramic views of the Bay of Saint-Tropez in a relaxed, sun-soaked seaside atmosphere”.

The full COMO rebrand in 2026 will come after a “significant two-phase development”.

COMO CEO Olivier Jolivet says when the palace hotel reopens it will be “a key milestone for the brand to operate in one of the most exclusive destinations in the world”.

“Each of our hotels is defined by its prime position, from Mayfair to the UNESCO-protected Alpe di Siusi”.

For the reopening in 2026, COMO Le Beauvallon will also launch new culinary concepts by French Chef Yannick Alléno, who has 19 restaurants, 17 with Michelin stars.

Alléno says, “These 17 stars I dedicate above all to my teams. Together, we form a true constellation, constantly pushing the boundaries of excellence through our expertise and audacity”.

“I am particularly proud that L’Abysse Monte-Carlo has been awarded two stars in just eight months. This distinction is a wonderful recognition of my team’s daily commitment to sustainable and respectful gastronomy.

“I hope these stars will attract new guests eager to discover the unique world of my restaurants. I am delighted with this success and hope that 2025 will be a year of new collective victories!”
