Viking Vesta has joined Viking Cruises’ fleet of ocean ships following a ceremony in Italy.
The 499 stateroom ship will spend her inaugural season sailing itineraries in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe.
Viking Chairman and CEO Torstein Hagen says, “We are proud to welcome Viking Vesta to our fleet of elegant, small sister ships”.
“As we continue to expand around the world, we are pleased to offer curious travellers new options for exploring in Viking comfort.”

The cruise line recently announced details of Viking Libra, the world’s first hydrogen-powered cruise ship, capable of operating with zero emissions.
Already under construction at Fincantieri’s Ancona shipyard, Viking Libra will have a propulsion system based partially on liquefied hydrogen and fuel cells, and is scheduled for delivery in late 2026.
Viking Astrea – currently under construction and scheduled for delivery in 2027 – will also be hydrogen-powered.

Hagen says, “From the outset, we have designed our river and ocean ships thoughtfully to reduce their fuel consumption, and we are very proud Viking Libra and Astrea will be even more environmentally friendly”.
“We made the principled decision to invest in hydrogen, which offers a true zero-emission solution. We look forward to welcoming the world’s first hydrogen-powered cruise ship to our fleet in 2026.”
Viking Vesta has been “designed with the future in mind”, ensuring she can be retrofitted to incorporate these new technologies as they become available.
The cruise line expects to take delivery of 27 additional river ships by 2028 and 10 additional ocean ships by 2031, which will bring its number of river ships to 111 in 2028 and ocean and expedition ships to 23 by 2031.
