With the Northern Hemisphere summer at its peak, Agoda has the insider tips on where Aussies can escape the chilly temps for Asia’s cheapest hotspots with accommodation under AUD$145.

Topping the cheapest Asian hotspots list is Surabaya, Indonesia, offering culture and adventure in the sun and a gateway to nearby islands with an average room rate per night of just $53.

It’s followed by Tirupati, a spiritual and cultural destination in South India with an average room rate per night of $56 and lively Hat Yai, Thailand, averaging around $58 per night.

Rounding out the top five cheapest Asian hotspots for this Northern Hemisphere summer are Dalat in the central highlands of Vietnam, averaging $68 per night, and Iloilo, Philippines with an average room rate per night of $71.

Also in the cheapest Asian hotspots list with an average room rate per night under $145 are Kuching, Malaysia ($81 per night), Nagoya, Japan and Kaohsiung, Taiwan (both $137 per night) and Daejeon, South Korea ($142 per night).

Agoda’s data insights show younger travellers are driving the search for value-driven experiences with affordability shaping travel decisions.

 More than half of Gen Z travellers (56%) aim to keep their nightly stay below USD$50 per person (around AUD$76), a preference that’s also common among Millennials (44%).

Beyond price, younger budget travellers also seek experiences that offer meaningful value, making affordable yet enriching destinations especially appealing.

Advisors can leverage this to create summer packages, combining multi-location room rates with curated activities, such as food tours or cultural excursions, increasing both booking value and customer experience.
