Air New Zealand has unveiled a first glimpse of the new Koru Lounge at Auckland International Airport, which will double the current capacity with 70 per cent more seating and include two lounge areas to become the airline’s flagship and most spacious lounge when it opens in late 2027.
The new space will include an exclusive lounge for Airpoints Elite and Business Premier passengers as well as a lounge for Airpoints Gold, Star Alliance Gold, Airpoints Silver and Koru members.
The current 2,000sqm Air New Zealand Koru Lounge, which opened in 2015, will expand to 3,700sqm in total. The Airpoints Elite and Business Premier lounge will provide an elevated experience for premium pax with more space, an expanded food and beverage selection and tarmac and runway views.
Both lounges will feature a variety of business areas, including private rooms and single-seat booths, comfortable seating, a dedicated family space and a barista bar closer to the entrance.

Air New Zealand CEO Greg Foran said the new lounges will deliver a fresh new look and feel inspired by the best of Aotearoa through colours, materials, furnishings, lighting and art.
“We’ve designed our new lounges around what our customers told us matters most – more space, more seating and the ability to choose how they spend their time,” he said.
“We know our customers value having spaces that are suited to their travel needs, whether that be a quiet business area that allows focus, room for families to play before jumping onboard a flight or a social space to enjoy a coffee before departure.

“Across both lounges, total seating capacity will increase by 70 per cent, providing a significant boost in comfort and capacity for international travellers passing through Auckland,” he said.
Construction on the new Air New Zealand Koru Lounge will commence in early 2026 with the current lounge remaining open with reduced capacity.
Work will start on the Airpoints Elite and Business Premier lounge first and once the new lounge is open, the current Air New Zealand Koru Lounge will be redeveloped to open by late 2027.
