Australians are predicted to travel en masse to the perennially popular South-East Asian destinations of Thailand and Bali for the upcoming summer with 62 per cent of Aussie families already planning their overseas escapes. Here’s what agents need to know about this Aussie family travel trend.
In a recent Luxury Escapes survey of Aussie family travel trends, more than half of respondents (52%) indicated that they will travel overseas during the December-January holidays, compared with 14 per cent who plan to stay local.
The remainder are still undecided, but travel advisors should note that intent to travel is notably stronger among families keen to take a flop-and-drop beach getaway and seek value for money on premium experiences without the price tag.

Bali, Thailand and Japan were the most popular destinations on Aussie families’ wish lists – and 77 per cent of Bali travellers and 73 per cent of Thailand holidaymakers are repeat visitors to these SE Asian hotspots.
The latest website data also shows search interest for “Bali with children” has surged 56 per cent since the start of 2025, highlighting the Aussie family travel trend.
According to Luxury Escapes, travellers typically spend between $4,600 and $4,800 per adult for up to nine days in either location (including flights, accommodation and activities).
Luxury Escapes launches loyalty program

Luxury Escapes has also officially launched its free loyalty program, Société, with the ambitious goal to be “Australia’s favourite lifestyle rewards program”.
Like other rewards programs, Société allows members to earn Points and Status Credits on eligible purchases across the network of holidays, tours, hotel bookings, flights and experiences.

Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze Status Credit tiers unlock benefits such as room upgrades, airport transfers and lounge passes, while Points or a combination of Points and cash can be redeemed on all products.
Members can also rack up points through their credit card and airline loyalty memberships on top of Société Points.
