Intrepid Travel expands into Uzbekistan as Central Asia bookings surge by 70%

Intrepid Travel will open its first Uzbekistan office in late 2025, expanding its destination management company (DMC) network in response to rising demand for the ‘Stans and marking its 32nd office globally.

Intrepid Travel will open its first Uzbekistan office in late 2025, expanding its destination management company (DMC) network in response to rising demand for the ‘Stans and marking its 32nd office globally.

The new DMC will strengthen Intrepid’s presence in Central Asia after recording a 70 per cent year-on-year lift in bookings as travellers seek lesser-known destinations and off-the-beaten-path adventures.

The move also aligns with Intrepid’s 2030 strategy to scale its network of locally managed DMCs and deliver high-quality, community-connected experiences through a significant investment in long-term partnerships with local suppliers and communities.

It also comes as the B Corp touring company recently added two new Central Asia itineraries for 2026, including a 10-day  Kyrgyzstan: Trekking the Tien Shan Trails trip and a 16-day Highlights of Central Asia trip.

Based in Tashkent, the DMC is currently recruiting for a Country General Manager to lead the new office, supported by a small operational team and regional trip leaders.

Intrepid Travel Managing Director Asia & Head of Global Operations Natalie Kidd said: “This is a natural next step in our strategy to grow where we’re seeing momentum and to support that growth with strong local teams.”

“Central Asia is an exciting region for Intrepid and having our own DMC in Uzbekistan means we can better support our leaders, partners and travellers on the ground.”
