Journey Beyond has made a trans-Tasman play, acquiring New Zealand-based Grand Pacific Tours premium coach touring company and marking its first foray into international operations.

Grand Pacific Tours (GPT) will join the group in September 2025.

Established in 1996, GPT offers two distinct coach travel styles: Ultimate Small Group Tours on exclusive business class coaches capped at 20, and Signature Mid-Size group tours aboard custom 32-seater premium economy coaches.

With more than 230 departures already planned for the upcoming season, these fully inclusive tours feature specially curated itineraries that cover the best experiences across Aotearoa New Zealand.

The acquisition aligns with JB’s promise to take travellers beyond, complementing its iconic trains and overnight rail journeys on The Ghan, Indian Pacific and Great Southern, along with Outback Spirit small-group tours.

JB CEO Chris Tallent said: “We are excited to welcome GPT to our growing portfolio of iconic brands and experiences.”

“This marks an exciting next phase of growth for us, further expanding our offerings of immersive, authentic and unique tourism experiences into New Zealand.

Harding will remain with GPT as Executive General Manager to ensure a smooth transition, and the GPT team will also join the JB group.
