Perennially popular destination Bali is at the top of Australians’ spring break wish lists with eight of the top 25 searched international destinations for accommodation located on the Indonesian isle, led by Seminyak.
Booking.com research revealed that Bali’s Legian (3), Canggu (7), Ubud (8), Kuta (10), Sanur (11), Uluwatu (12) and Nusa Dua (13) also appeared on the list of most-searched international destinations for the September 2025 spring break.
The data was collated from search sessions conducted between 14–31 July 2025 when most Aussies were enduring a long, wet winter and longing for some sunshine.
Rounding out the top 10 most-search destinations for a spring fling abroad were Tokyo (2), Singapore (4), Paris (5), London (6) and Queenstown (9).
Australians are increasingly looking at shoulder seasons to travel to Europe to avoid crowds and enjoy more pleasant temps for sightseeing and exploring.
The booking data shows around 30 per cent year-on-year increase in spring break searches for Paris, while more affordable Asian cities are also on the rise, such as Seoul with approximately 50 per cent more searches for accommodation than last year.
Other trending holiday hotspots in Asia include Kuala Lumpur and Ho Chi Minh City, both budget-friendly and conveniently located destinations, highlighting that value for money is top of mind among Aussie travellers in 2025.
Domestically, Queensland nabbed the most searched spring break spots with 12 out of 25 on the list, including the Gold Coast at number one as well as Cairns (4), Brisbane (5), Port Douglas (7) and Noosa Heads (8), demonstrating why the state is Australia’s most popular holiday destination.
Also in the domestic top 10 most searched destinations for accommodation were the major capital cities of Sydney (2), Melbourne (3), Perth (6), Darwin (9) and Adelaide (10).
