LATAM Airlines Group has appointed Alberto Chico García as its new Country Manager for Oceania, as the carrier gears up for major service expansions across Australia and New Zealand.

LATAM Airlines Group has appointed Alberto Chico García as its new Country Manager for Oceania, as the carrier gears up for major service expansions across Australia and New Zealand.

LATAM Airlines said Chico García will oversee the airline’s commercial and operational strategy in the region, including strengthening partnerships and driving customer engagement.

García’s appointment is effective immediately. LATAM says the appointment highlights its continued investment in Oceania as it builds connectivity to Latin America.

With more than 12 years of commercial experience across the travel and tourism industry, Chico García’s career spans leadership roles in market development, strategic negotiations and revenue growth.

Most recently, he served as the Vertical Head of Commercial Partnerships for KAYAK in Asia Pacific, managing the Hotels and Cars business. He also spent eight years with Amadeus in Asia Pacific as Commercial Strategy Manager, following earlier roles in Revenue Management and Commercial Finance.

Thibaud Morand, General Manager EMEA, Asia and South Pacific at LATAM Airlines, said the new appointment comes at a key time for the carrier.

“We are delighted to appoint Alberto as our new Country Manager for Oceania. His strong expertise in commercial strategy, partnerships, and customer-focused growth will be instrumental as we continue to strengthen operations in the region.”

Chico García added: “I’m honoured to take on this role at such an exciting moment for LATAM. With our upcoming daily services from both Sydney and Melbourne, we are better placed than ever to connect travellers in Oceania with Latin America. My focus will be on continuing to build strong partnerships, delivering value to our customers and ensuring LATAM is the airline of choice for travellers across the region.”

The appointment coincides with LATAM’s planned service increases. Following the resumption of Sydney–Santiago flights in October 2024, the carrier will expand to daily non-stop Sydney services from November 2025 and Melbourne–Santiago flights to daily from December 2025.

Together with direct Auckland–Santiago services, Oceania travellers will benefit from greater choice and seamless connections to Latin America.
