Brisbane Lions fans have thousands more chances to cheer on their local team at this weekend’s 2025 AFL Grand Final with the addition of 27 extra Qantas and Jetstar flights and seven extra Virgin Australia services between Brisbane and Melbourne from 26 September to 29 September 2025.
Now available to book, Qantas and Jetstar have upped capacity on BNE–MEL routes with more than 4,500 additional seats added to the schedule, while Virgin Australia has added 1,200 seats between the two cities.
Qantas has added seven extra return flights between BNE and MEL and one additional flight between MEL and BNE on its Boeing B737 aircraft, priced from $205 one way.
Jetstar has added six more return flights from Brisbane to Melbourne operated by its Airbus A320 aircraft, starting from $167 one way.

Virgin Australia has added seven additional services between Brisbane and Melbourne to fly fans down and back.
Last year’s Sydney Swans vs Brisbane Lions showdown saw 30 additional flights added by Virgin Australia, Qantas and Jetstar from Sydney and Brisbane fans to wing their way to the MCG for the 2024 AFL Grand Final.

The Brisbane Lions will face off against Geelong Cats at the 2025 AFL Grand Final at the MCG on Saturday, 27 September at 2:30pm.
It’s the first time the two premiership teams will meet in a grand final across their 126-year history. The Geelong Cats last won in 2022 and Brisbane Lions are back to win a second consecutive premiership flag.
Pre-game entertainment will feature Snoop Dogg with Aussie musician Tash Sultana playing guitar in his band, along with Baker Boy. Local singer-songwriter Vera Blue will sing the national anthem again.
