Intrepid Travel has taken its sustainability message to one of the world’s biggest stages, making its debut at the United Nations General Assembly and Climate Week in New York City.

Representing the Melbourne-based company was Chief People and Purpose Officer, Meegan Marshall, who spoke at the UN Global Compact Leaders’ Summit on 23 September.

Marshall joined business leaders worldwide to explore how companies can play a meaningful role in tackling climate change. She highlighted Intrepid’s record growth in both financial and impact results since becoming a certified B Corp in 2018.

Intrepid’s commitm ent goes further, with the company sponsoring the Coalition for Sustainable Procurement this year. It sees responsible supply chains as critical to solving global environmental and social challenges. With more than 10,000 local suppliers across 118 countries, over 85 per cent of Intrepid’s emissions sit in its supply chain.

“It’s a huge honour to represent Intrepid at this global event and to have the opportunity to meet and learn from inspiring changemakers in the climate change space, as well as organisations who are leading change,” Intrepid Travel Chief People and Purpose Officer Meegan Marshall said.

In July, Intrepid Travel marked the first-ever global Intrepid Day with celebrations across 31 countries. The day spotlighted the power of purpose-led travel and the people behind it, raising $150,000.
