The upgrades will enhance the $41 million resort complex owned by Airport Development Group (ADG), which opened in December 2023 and consists of Accor-managed Novotel, Mercure and ibis hotels connected by a central reception and lounge, lagoon pool and an alfresco cafe.

Eight new Rapid Creek Villas have been constructed – three two-bedroom and five one-bedroom villas up to 49sqm – with private parking.

The villas overlook tropical bushland in the Rapid Creek Conservation Reserve (Gurumbai in the Larrakia language), which includes a self-guided walking trail with information about the area’s cultural and environmental significance.

Novotel Darwin Airport welcomes five 55sqm Executive Suites with views of the lagoon pool or airport, all the hotel amenities, plus a resort-style vibe.

Darwin Airport Resorts upgrades include the newly launched, 170-seat California boho-themed Poolhouse Bar & Kitchen restaurant, featuring Top End culinary influences and ADG’s Indigenous Training Academy graduates in front and back of house roles.

Accor Pacific COO Adrian Williams said Darwin Airport Resorts will transform how visitors experience the Top End.

Darwin Airport Resorts General Manager Raymond Bragg said the latest additions reflect demand among travellers and locals alike as the latest TRA data shows NT achieved the highest percentage growth in visitors and expenditure nationwide.

“Our goal is to offer a world-class accommodation experience without having to leave the airport,” he said.

“We have enjoyed one of the strongest peak seasons in many years, and with further expansion of direct air services to Darwin Airport, ADG believes there is significant potential to enhance both our accommodation and hospitality offerings.”
