Princess Cruises has revealed some serious star power for its second Sphere-Class ship with Hollywood royalty Matthew McConaughey and his wife, Camila Alves, named as the godparents of Star Princess, the fleet’s 17th addition.
The McConaugheys, co-founders of Pantalones Organic Tequila, join the esteemed ranks of Princess Cruises’ celebrity godparents, including Princess Diana, Audrey Hepburn and Sophia Loren.
They will christen Star Princess in the longstanding maritime tradition during a Naming Ceremony held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on 6 November 2025.
Princess Cruises took delivery of Star Princess, a sister ship to Sun Princess, during a celebratory handover ceremony at the Fincantieri Shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy on 29 September 2025.

Princess Cruises already has an association with the McConaugheys with signature cocktails featuring Pantalones Organic Tequila, including the guest favourite 24K Gold Margarita, served across the fleet.

The 4,300-passenger, 1,600-crew Star Princess will depart the shipyard and sail to Barcelona ahead of her maiden voyage, an 11-day Western Mediterranean cruise departing 4 October 2025.
She will then sail from Fort Lauderdale to the Caribbean from 7 November before beginning her inaugural Alaska season.
