The yellow intentional departure gates may be gone (for now), but aviation aficionados can snap up a piece of aviation history with more than 800 unique lots up for grabs, including departure signage, in the Brisbane Airport Lost Property Auction 2025.
Running until 2 November, the auction also features a collection of heritage aviation to mark Brisbane Airport’s 100 years in 2025 as the international terminal also hit 30 years of operation last month.
The Brisbane Airport Lost Property Auction 2025 has almost double the lots up for grabs in 2024 with 807 items left behind by the 24 million passengers who travelled through the terminals in the past year.
Despite efforts to reunite owners with their belongings, many items remain unclaimed well beyond the standard holding period.

Standout items in the Brisbane Airport Lost Property Auction 2025 with $1 reserves on all lots include a $11,000 Bvlgari 18k gold necklace, laptops, tablets, phones, speakers, cameras, gaming consoles, handbags, fashion accessories, perfume, scooters, bikes, drones, sunglasses and other jewellery.

Brisbane Airport Corporation spokesperson Peter Doherty said BNE plans to raise $100,000 for the hub’s centenary this year with all proceeds going to Queensland children’s charities after last year’s bids raised $90,000 for Little Wings, Baby Give Back, Fair Fight Foundation and Cystic Fibrosis Queensland.

“It’s always surprising and even a little bizarre to see what gets left behind by the 70,000 passengers who pass through Brisbane Airport each day,” he said.
“With Brisbane Airport turning 100 this year, we’ve also included some special heritage aviation items we think will attract a lot of interest.

“Where else can you pick up a row of airline seats, a black box, cockpit voice recorder or vintage life jackets with Ansett on them?” he said.
Aviation Australia contributed the rare aviation memorabilia to the Brisbane Airport Lost Property Auction 2025, while 12 months’ free parking and a behind-the-scenes personal airside tour of Brisbane Airport are also up for sale through Lloyds Auctioneers & Valuers.

In addition, Brisbane Lions and Brisbane Roar have donated exclusive sporting items and experiences to the Brisbane Airport Lost Property Auction 2025 to help boost the fundraising tally.
