For many travellers, the sight of an empty baggage carousel is the moment the holiday glow fades. Melbourne brand July wants to make that moment a thing of the past with the launch of CaseSafe™, the world’s first fully trackable suitcase created with Apple and Google.

CaseSafe™ features an integrated, TSA-approved smart lock that connects directly to Apple’s Find My and Google’s Find Hub networks. Travellers can see exactly where their bag is at any time, from the tarmac to the terminal.

July co-founder Athan Didaskalou said CaseSafe™ is the next evolution in travel gear. “Losing your luggage is one of the most common pain points when you travel. This is the beginning of a new era. Once your case is tracked out of the box, you can never go back.”

Smart technology, global reach

The CaseSafe™ lock connects to a network of more than a billion devices worldwide, providing instant location data if a bag goes missing.

Google’s Vice President of Engineering Erik Kay said the partnership aligns with a growing focus on travel simplicity and safety.

Every year, around 36 million bags are mishandled, and nearly two million never turn up again. July says CaseSafe™ is designed to bring that number down through built-in smart tracking and durable design.

From trial to transformation

Earlier this year, July tested the concept with a limited-edition Qantas range that sold out within two days. The new CaseSafe™ line expands the technology across all July suitcase sizes, including Carry On, Checked, and Checked Plus.

Priced between AUD 395 and 495, each CaseSafe™ features July’s German aerospace-grade polycarbonate shell, SilentMove 360° spinner wheels, and a rechargeable battery-powered lock. The range comes in July’s core colour palette, from forest green to sand.

Didaskalou said the launch represents July’s ongoing commitment to elevating the travel experience. “We’ve always believed luggage should do more than carry your things. It should actively make travel better. CaseSafe™ continues that mission.”
