Philippine Airlines (PAL) is the new operator of an Airbus A350-1000, the first of this widebody, long-range aircraft in South-East Asia and only the 10th worldwide.
But the new jet won’t be flying to Australia just yet with the carrier keen to expand its transpacific network with nonstop flights to North America.
Philippine Airlines took delivery of the first of nine of this aircraft model on order at Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport on 20 December 2025.

The new aircraft – the world’s most modern widebody – will join the existing fleet of A350-900s to expand routes to major US destinations, such as NYC, LA, Seattle and San Francisco, and grow long-haul capacity for the Filipino national carrier.
Philippine Airlines’ newest jet includes several new features for the airline, including Collins Aerospace Elevation mini-suites with sliding doors, an upgrade from PAL’s doorless business class cabins on its A350-900s.

PAL’s A350-1000 premium configuration offers three cabin classes in a 382-seat layout – 42 full-flat in business class, 24 premium economy recliner seats and 316 economy seats – for an almost 30 per cent lift in capacity compared to the A350-900’s 295 pax.
According to Airbus, the A350’s all-new design incorporates state-of-the-art technologies and aerodynamics, delivering operational efficiency and passenger comfort.

Its new-generation engines and lightweight materials bring a 25 per cent advantage in fuel burn, operating costs and carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions, compared to previous generation competitor aircraft.
The aircraft also features a comfortable and spacious Airspace cabin with wide seats, high ceilings and ambient lighting to create a relaxing onboard experience.

PAL’s first five A350-1000s are due for delivery in 2026 with three more in 2027.
