Australia is the only Asia-Pacific nation to feature on Airbnb’s 2025 ‘most-loved homes on social’ list, with a tiny home in rural New South Wales capturing the attention of global travellers.
The accolade highlights how Gen Z travellers are reshaping travel inspiration with social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok now leading the way in how people discover destinations and design-led accommodation.
Ironically, some shared characteristics of the most-loved Airbnb listings reflect what travellers really want: escapes that allow them to connect offline, unwind and be inspired in extraordinary spaces, mirroring the brand’s 2026 trend forecast.
Listings that feature immersion in nature, unique architecture and design and offer wellness amenities steeped in relaxation and rejuvenation were the most inspiring for social media users in 2025.
In Australia, travellers loved Gilay Estate – a tiny home in Quirindi on the Liverpool Plains region of NSW, located 68km southwest of Tamworth and 346km northwest of Sydney.
The rural “hut” for two guests made it into the top one per cent of Airbnb homes and features one bedroom and one bathroom, plus a hot tub, an indoor fireplace, outdoor firepit and air-con for the summer months.
It’s an architectural stunner with a striking asymmetrical design that also blends with its natural surroundings for slow living appeal for city slickers.
Also on the global list of covetable stays to whet your appetite for aesthetic stays in 2026 are a DC-6 airplane house in Alaska, a secret treehouse in Hawai’i and a Gaudí-inspired, mosaic-studded “nest” in Naucalpan de Juárez near Mexico City.
