Hilton has planted its lifestyle flag in Niseko, opening a winter-only hotel at what has become Australia’s most booked ski playground.

Hilton has planted its lifestyle flag in Niseko, opening a winter-only hotel at what has become Australia’s most booked ski playground.

The Green Leaf Niseko Village, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, opened on 21 January 2026 inside Niseko Village Ski Resort, adding 200 rooms to Hokkaido’s peak winter supply. The hotel operates exclusively during Niseko’s White Season.

The opening delivers Hilton’s first Tapestry Collection property in Japan, placing the brand directly into one of the country’s most internationally driven ski markets.

The property sits at the base of Mount Niseko Annupuri, with ski-in, ski-out access and no shuttle transfers required between lifts, rooms, dining or onsen.

A winter-only hotel aimed squarely at ski season demand

The Green Leaf does not operate year-round. Rooms, food service and wellness facilities open only for the snow season, tightening availability into a defined winter window.

The 200-room inventory includes guestrooms and suites designed for short winter stays, apres-ski recovery and fast mountain access, with ski lockers and direct lift connections inside the resort precinct.

The opening expands Hilton’s lifestyle footprint in Japan, alongside Canopy by Hilton Osaka Umeda and ahead of confirmed Canopy openings in Tokyo and Okinawa, plus a Curio Collection hotel planned for Kyoto by 2028.

Japanese winter art is embedded throughout the hotel

More than 200 artworks by Japanese painter Soichiro Tomioka line guest corridors and rooms. His work centres on winter landscapes using his proprietary pigment, Tomioka White.

Sapporo-based artist and graphic designer Emi Shiratori created murals at the lobby entrance and spa facade, with hand-drawn graphics extending across guestroom doors, ski lockers, menus, room keys and in-stay messaging.

Interior design by Champalimaud Design references alpine terrain and seasonal light, with materials and layouts built around winter occupancy rather than shoulder-season flexibility.

Dining, onsen and spa are built around ski-day flow

Goshiki, the hotel’s main restaurant, serves a la carte lunches and buffet dinners during winter operations, while the lobby lounge, Tomioka White, doubles as a cafe, apres-ski bar and take-away breakfast point.

The Green Leaf Onsen draws from a natural spring emerging at 53.2°C, cooling to just over 40°C before entering indoor and outdoor baths. Men’s and women’s bathing areas are separated, with an open-air rotenburo surrounded by natural rock.

Juhyo Spa offers winter-specific treatments designed for post-ski recovery, supported by a fitness centre for non-snow days.
